Professional practices linked to extension. The experience of the UNLaM Nutrition Degree.
Abstract
Extension, teaching, and research are substantive functions of the university. Extension actions contribute to the link between university and society by participating in the teaching-learning processes. Since the 1990s, the National Inter-University Council has promoted this function. Still, it was by the mid-2000s that solid policies were established, through recommendations for inclusion in the curriculum and the creation of the University Extension Network.
In the last year of the Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition at the National University of La Matanza (UNLaM), the Supervised Professional Practices are developed and structured into Professional Internships in Clinical Nutrition and Professional Internships in Food Services. The latter are those of Food Spaces Management (GEA), where the activities are continued from one group of students to another in order to leave production in the place that has received them. Based on the above, the objective of this article is to share the work experience in the Professional Practices of GEA of the Degree in Nutrition of the UNLaM and to reflect on their points of contact with the extension work.
In the development, the 2020-2021 experience period is shared, from which a synergy was generated resulting in an Extension Project accredited by the Secretariat of University Policies; Meeting points between both processes are exposed with a proposal for deepening in view of including extension actions in the curriculum.
