University Extension is established as a strategic pillar for the development of professional competencies, integrating academic training and social responsibility. Through collaborative projects—such as advisory services, training programs, or community interventions—students apply theoretical knowledge in real-world contexts, enhancing cross-cutting skills like critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, and empathy. Approaches such as service-learning and participatory action research facilitate interaction with vulnerable communities, reinforcing ethical awareness and adaptability to complex environments. Studies show that this synergy between university and society not only improves graduates' employability by aligning their profiles with current labor demands but also contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). However, greater systematization in impact evaluation and a more robust curricular integration are required to scale benefits. Thus, Extension transcends its traditional role, redefining higher education as a space for co-creation of knowledge and social transformation. This approach strengthens institutional commitment to equity and the training of professionals dedicated to the common good. The objective proposed is to design an action plan to enhance the development of professional competencies through university extension, based on a diagnosis of best practices in Cuban institutions. It is grounded in the principles of grounded theory and integrates three key methodological components: the constant comparative method, theoretical sampling, and data source triangulation.
