University extension constitutes a fundamental tool for strengthening environmental education and promot
ing biodiversity conservation through participatory processes of knowledge exchange between universities and
communities. In this context, the aim of this study was to develop extension activities focused on awareness-rais
ing and training related to wildlife and environmental issues. The proposal was implemented by professors and
students from the National University of Río Cuarto in preschool and secondary educational institutions, as well
as at the Urban Ecological Park of Río Cuarto city (Córdoba, Argentina). Talks, workshops, and interactive activ
ities adapted to each target group were carried out, addressing topics related to biodiversity, conservation, en
dangered species, zoonoses, wildlife pet keeping, and illegal wildlife trafficking. The results showed a high level
of appreciation of the activities among teachers, students, and volunteers, highlighting interest, active participa
tion, and the acquisition of new knowledge about biodiversity and environmental issues. Likewise, university stu
dents emphasized the educational value of the experience, particularly regarding interdisciplinary work and
the communication of scientific knowledge. The activities strengthened the relationship between the univer
sity and the community, promoting environmental awareness and commitment to biodiversity conservation.
