Abstract

Animal welfare (AW) is a paradigm that has gained greater importance in the recent decades. The way in which we produce must be accompanied by strategies and Good farming practices that minimize stress and suffering on animals. In view of this, the professorship of Agrometeorology and Interaction of Animals and the Environment of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences of the National University of Litoral (UNL) decided to work together with an educational agrotechnical institution. The objective was to build dialogue and strengthen communication with future agricultural technicians, but also to disseminate the research carried out by the department on issues related to AW and animal comfort, with an emphasis on heat stress on dairy production. It should be noted that the school has an important model dairy farm, so the chair would provide tools related to AW.

The fact of incorporating these topics in the school curriculum meant an interrelation and intercommunication between those who participated in the extension project because of the necessary exchange and the participation of the students in a subject unknown to them. It is urgent that, as future agronomists, they incorporate this content as compulsory, and in this respect, the course contributed knowledge to achieve this.
