Popular habitat and socio-urban integration: Social organizations and University Extension in Comodoro Rivadavia (Chubut)
Abstract
The following article is the result of the work carried out within the framework of the University Extension project: "Popular habitat and socio-community initiatives of urban integration in popular neighborhoods of Comodoro Rivadavia (Chubut)". As part of its objectives, participatory research-action methodologies were implemented in a popular neighborhood of the city of Comodoro Rivadavia, such as the Abel Amaya Extension. Throughout this process, the complexities inherent to urban space and living in poor conditions, not only led to the implementation of participatory research processes, but also to the articulation with organizations, referents and institutions, such as the "Women of the Orchard" who resist and generate strategies for the sustainability of life through the production of vegetables and fruit trees, despite the adverse context in which they live. The articulation with them not only made it possible to account for the complexities of the neighborhood and the city, but also was part of the project's initiatives that sought to generate more structural actions and repercussions on the socio-urban integration of the neighborhood in the long term.
