Abstract

This work aims to reflect on the extension experience developed in Cerro Leones, Tandil, based on the Collective Reconstruction of History (RCH) methodology. It was carried out within the framework of the UNICEN Comprehensive Extension Program “Barrios de Piedra” and was carried out by members of the Retirement Center “Viejos son los Trapos” and the Figueroa Club and Library, neighborhood leaders and the Social Observatory of the Faculty of Human Sciences (UNICEN). The text presents an approach to the experience in dialogue with theoretical-methodological aspects in search of advancing in the construction of a synthesis between the different dimensions that allows to contribute to the development of a critical and transformative extensionist praxis. To do this, we worked with specialized bibliography and with various records kept throughout the process. It begins with a brief description of the neighborhood focusing on its historical dimension. Subsequently, a presentation of the methodological perspective with which we worked is made, emphasizing its foundations, criteria and implementation phases. Below it is the story of the experience developed throughout a series of meetings in which the objectives and dynamics of operation were transformed culminating in the co-construction of the popular history magazine “Cerro Leones, a trip through time”, where the work carried out was synthesized and crystallized as a piece of popular communication. Finally, the work concludes with some reflections and possible lines of action that could give continuity to the experience.
